“Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie”, the 2012 Japanese anime film based on the hit manga series “Naruto”, is coming to SM Cinema Theaters on May 15, just two weeks after the release of another anime movie, “One Piece Film Z”.
“Road to Ninja” is already the ninth overall “Naruto” film and the sixth of the “Naruto Shippuden” sequels from series creator Masashi Kishimoto. This is the highest-grossing “Naruto” film ever, grossing 1.46 billion yen ($18.3 million) in Japan last year.

It is set in an alternate timeline of the ”Naruto” universe in which the title character, an ambitious adolescent ninja, is not an orphan and many characters have different personalities.

The film’s local distributor is Pioneer Films, also the distributor for “One Piece Film Z.”

Last year, SM Cinema had a box-office hit with the exclusive screening of “Rurouni Kenshin”, a live-action movie based on the popular manga series.
